Nebraska CME/CE Requirements

(3) hours on the subject of opioids, and .5 hours of the 3 hours are required to be on the subject of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) (for all professionals who prescribe controlled substances). CE may include, but is not limited to, education regarding prescribing and administering opiates; the risks and indicators regarding development of addiction to opiates; and emergency opiate situations.

(8) hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder. This is a one-time requirement for all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders), beginning with DEA initial or renewal registrations starting June 27, 2023.
