Biography

Dr. Jerry Yee, MD, is the Division Head, Henry Ford Hospital Nephrology, Hypertension and Transplantation and Clinical Professor of Medicine, Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. He is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson Medical College, Class of 1982. He completed his internal medicine residency at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Brooke Army Medical Center, in 1985. He subsequently was an academic internist from 1985 to 1989, at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, and then he began his nephrology career. He completed a clinical fellowship at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, and a basic science fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Thereafter, he returned to San Antonio, as an Assistant Professor in Nephrology, in 1993. In 1997, he moved his laboratory to the Henry Ford Hospital and has been there since. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Chronic Kidney Disease, a publication of the National Kidney Foundation. He also is one of the American Society of Nephrology's Education Directors and its website content. He is also a member of the AMA PCPI Committee and numerous other kidney-related committees. Recently, he chaired the American Board of Internal Medicine's CKD Practice Improvement Module committee. He is the author of nearly 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts and the Editor of a Chronic Kidney Disease handbook for primary care physicians.His current clinical interests involve Acute Kidney Injury Renal Replacement Therapies with citrate anticoagulation, Chronic Kidney Disease operational planning, and teaching acid-base/electrolyte clinical science.
