Biography

Dr. Vaishnavi is a neuropsychiatrist and cognitive neuroscientist with current research interests in methods to enhance neural plasticity and resilience with brain stimulation (particularly transcranial magnetic stimulation), digital therapeutics, and evidence-based stress management tools (such as breathing-based and meditation-based techniques). He has been involved in funded research in these methods as applied to ADHD, major depression, PTSD, and clinician burnout. He has a PhD in Cognitive Science (with a specialization in cognitive neuroscience), and was part of the National Institute of Health-sponsored medical scientist training program. He has trained at institutions including Duke University and Johns Hopkins. He has completed a fellowship in Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry from Johns Hopkins, and he is certified in both general psychiatry (by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) and Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry (from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties). He is a Fellow of the American Neuropsychiatric Association and a Castle Connolly Top Doctor (2024). He is the co-author of the best-selling book, The Traumatized Brain: A Family Guide to Understanding Mood, Memory, and Behavior after Brain Injury, as well as Healing the Traumatized Brain: Coping with Concussions and other Brain Injuries.
