Biography

Yasmin Uzamere is an Assistant Professor in the Family Medicine Department at Baylor College of Medicine. She graduated from Meharry Medical College in 2018 and while there, developed a passion for primary care, with a specific interest in women’s preventive health and education. Through a sponsorship from the UHF/NMF, she developed the #WomensHealthMatters Initiative, aiming to provide nutrition and exercise information in the form of educational tools to women in underserved communities in Nashville. She completed her residency training at Baylor College of Medicine, where she served as chief resident during her third year. Upon graduating, she stayed on as faculty with Baylor, where spends most of her time treating patients in the medical center. She also spends a portion of her time in medical education, serving as a PBL facilitator, POM preceptor, and ACTA faculty member for the College of Medicine. She continues to foster her interest in women’s health at her home clinic, and as a provider at Baylor’s Teen Clinic. Outside of work she loves reading, party planning, and traveling the world with her husband, a NICU fellow, and 3-year-old daughter, a future ballerina.
