Biography
As the Sleep Center Director in one of the largest VAs in the country, Dr. Supriya Singh brings a wealth of experience and expertise in sleep medicine and healthcare leadership. Dr. Singh's journey began with a Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. In 2013, Dr. Singh joined the Michael E DeBakey VA Sleep Center, bringing innovative approaches to patient care and operational excellence. As Sleep Center Director, Dr. Singh has spearheaded initiatives to optimize diagnostic procedures, reduce wait times, and enhance the overall patient experience. The use of PAP therapy remains the gold standard treatment for sleep apnea, however, it does present its own set of challenges. The Hypoglossal nerve stimulator and REMEDE for obstructive and central sleep apnea are both implanted devices introduced by Dr. Singh in recent years. In addition, she has introduced several other non-invasive devices when treating sleep apnea, with much better device tolerance than a PAP machine. Additionally, Dr. Singh is also committed to the educational aspect of sleep medicine by training the next generation of sleep physicians in the Program Director role. Under her leadership, the Sleep Center team has flourished, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
