Biography
Dr.Amit Sharma is a board certified Interventional Cardiologist with Steward’s Rockledge Regional Medical Center ( RRMC). Dr. Sharma has served as Chairman of Cardiology at RRMC since last four years and serves as Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services for Steward Central Florida Hospitals . Dr. Sharma also serves as the Regional Dean for Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Sharma completed his Graduate medical education from University of Alabama at Birmingham ( UAB) , where he also served as the Chief Resident. Dr.Sharma completed General Cardiology Fellowship and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship from St. Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute, University of Missouri, Kansas City. He was also selected to be the Chief Cardiology Fellow. Dr.Sharma has also served as the Associate Program Director of University of Alabama at Birmingham Internal Medicine Residency Program, where he received numerous awards for his teaching and leadership ability – this includes prestigious Tinsley Harrison Resident of the year award, awarded thrice UAB teacher of the year award. Dr.Sharma’s primary research interest includes Medical Education ,Patient Safety, coagulation and structural heart disease. Dr.Sharma has delivered numerous CMEs at national and at International levels. Dr.Sharma is married to Dr.Kalpana Gorthi who is an Internist, together they have three daughters.
