Biography

Dr. Runyan is a professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She is the director of Behavioral Science for the Worcester Family Medicine Residency Program and the director of a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical health psychology in primary care. For her entire career, which includes a 6-year stint as an active-duty psychologist in the US Air Force, she has been practicing, teaching and training behavioral health providers and physicians in models of collaborative primary care. Dr. Runyan is a nationally recognized leader in collaborative care and serves as the President of the Board of Directors for the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association (CFHA). She has written and presented extensively about behavioral health conditions and ethical issues in integrated care. Dr. Runyan also leads the faculty wellness initiative in her department at U Mass, developing and implementing education, innovation, and policies to promote clinician well being.
