Biography
Albert L. Ray, MD, is Medical Director at Pain Medicine Solutions and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Florida. Dr. Ray holds a medical degree from the New Jersey College of Medicine in Newark. He served both an internship and a residency in Psychiatry at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, where he was Chief Resident. Certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Ray has been involved with the study and treatment of painful disorders for over 25 years. He has also been active in supporting the development of the specialty of Pain Medicine in the US. He is President of the Foundation for Pain Medicine and Chairman of the Board of the National Pain Foundation and has been on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Branch of the National Arthritis Foundation. He is also Past President of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, Past President of the Southern Pain Society, and a past director of the American Board of Pain Medicine. Dr. Ray is a national and international lecturer. He has co-authored a chapter in a textbook on pain management, and he is an editorial reviewer for Pain Medicine. He is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the Nancy C. Roeske, MD teaching award for Excellence in Medical Education from the American Psychiatric Society. In addition, Dr. Ray was listed in the Top 200 Doctors in South Florida in 2000.
