Nicholson, DO, AOBFP, DABOM, FOMA is an award-winning passionate bariatric medicine physician who received her medical degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999. She is board certified in Obesity Medicine as well as Family Practice and OMT. For over twenty years, Dr. Nicholson has motivated and compassionately partnered with generations of patients with obesity and its associated medical conditions and produced positive life-changing results in their weight, health and well-being. Dr. Nicholson has successfully infused obesity care into a private practice in an urban setting, a group practice in a suburban setting, an integrative concierge practice, a Native American owned practice in a rural setting and she patiently yet persistently pioneered a 10-year bureaucratic process that integrated obesity medicine into patient care in a hospital owned health care market where she became the first Obesity Medical Director of their first medical/surgical weight management center. Dr. Nicholson has been an active member of the Obesity Medicine Association for more than a decade, was the first female in Richmond, VA to receive designation as a Fellow of OMA (2018) and has been honored with an award by the OMA at their national conference for her advocacy for obesity. She was the first OMA State Advocacy Representative (STAR) for Virginia and in 2019, spearheaded actualization of the first VA STAR group of obesity thought leaders and clinicians in multiple disciplines across the state and surrounding areas. The group is still going and growing today. Dr. Nicholson exudes great joy educating and empowering her patients, peers, colleagues and communities about obesity and its related health conditions prompting changes in their clinical practices, personal mindsets and approaches toward people with the disease. She has been well received and highly ranked by participants who attend her transformational presentations and webinars at local, state and national levels.
