Biography

Filipe Moura, MD, PhD, earned his medical degree from the University of Brasilia, Brazil, and completed his PhD at the State University of Campinas, where he conducted translational research on insulin sensitivity in patients with cardiovascular disease. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in General Cardiology and Cardiovascular Imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. During this time, he also served as a postdoctoral research fellow with the TIMI Study Group and Broad Institute, focusing on clinical trials in cardiometabolic diseases. Dr. Moura is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at Yale University School of Medicine and serves as an attending cardiologist and multimodality cardiac imager in the Department of Internal Medicine. His clinical expertise lies in cardiovascular imaging, with advanced training (Level III) in Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT, and in preventive care focused on lipid and weight management. His research centers on leveraging clinical, imaging, and multi-omics data to identify sub-phenotypes of type 2 diabetes and obesity and their associated cardiovascular risks.
