Biography

Dr. Koffler trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado and began her career as an attending physician for the Denver VA, then transitioned to Emergency Medicine and later as a hospitalist and ICU physician for Kaiser Denver. It was while working in the ICU that she realized she was only able to stabilize health crises, but not really treat the reasons people landed in the hospital to begin with. This led her to apply to and be accepted into the first class of physicians trained in the US in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. She went on to become certified in Functional Medicine after the WHI study caused millions of women to stop their HRT and seek other forms of care. Since then, she has founded 5 centers devoted to Integrative and Functional Medicine, including at the University of Miami where she teaches at the undergraduate, med school, residency and fellowship levels and treats patients utilizing this perspective. Her goal is to establish Integrative Health within medical education and help our healthcare system to become more about health.
