Biography

Dr. Monique Hinchcliff is the Associate Clinical Director and the Director of Translational Research for the Northwestern Scleroderma Program. She completed rheumatology fellowship training and a Master’s Degree in Science in Clinical Investigation at Northwestern University. Her research program includes clinical, interventional and observational studies in patients, as well as mechanistic studies in animal models and humans, with the overarching goal of better understanding the epidemiology, risk factors, pathogenic mechanisms, treatment, and prognosis of systemic sclerosis (SSc). She utilizes high-throughput approaches to quantify disease heterogeneity and identify deregulated molecular programs that underlie SSc endophenotypes including various organ-based complications. She is PI of a NIAMS-funded K23 study whose aims are to identify gene expression signatures in skin that are associated with clinical improvement in SSc skin disease during immune suppression treatment. She is co-PI of an R21 grant that aims to identify skin transcriptomic and serum proteomic signatures that predict SSc disease course.
