Biography

Dr. Hamill received his undergraduate education at Michigan State University and obtained his MD from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Wayne State, where he also served as chief medical resident. Subsequently, he did a clinical and research fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Wisconsin. He has been a staff physician in the infectious diseases section at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston for the last 32 years and a member of the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine, where he is a professor in the Departments of Medicine and Molecular Virology & Microbiology. He previously served as the program director for the internal medicine residency program at Baylor College of Medicine for 16 years and vice-chair for medical education in the Department of Medicine since 2017.
