Biography

Dr. Katherine Greenberg is an Associate Professor in the Division of Adolescent Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, with additional appointments in Obstetrics and Gynecology and University Health. She received her MD from the University of Rochester after completing her BA in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Rainbow Babies’ and Children’s Hospital-Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, and her Adolescent Medicine fellowship at the University of Rochester. Dr. Greenberg has served as the Vice Chair for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Department of Pediatrics, and as the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Clinical Education at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She joined the faculty at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2014. Dr. Greenberg’s clinical and scholarly work centers on caring for LGBTQ+ adolescents and young adults. Her work includes directing the adolescent medicine Gender Health Services program from 2014-2023, which provides hormonal treatment for transgender and gender expansive youth from puberty through age 25 as well as referrals and coordination of other transition-related care. She is a member of the national Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health Education Program (ARSHEP) faculty through Physicians for Reproductive Health and Advocates for Youth, and is a local, regional, and nationally recognized educator in care for transgender youth and young adults. Dr. Greenberg has also worked in family planning care and education. As of 2023, she began working with the TRANSFORM Center at Mt. Hope Family Center in Rochester, NY to investigate the unique needs of LGBTQ+ youth in child abuse prevention and mitigation.
