Biography

Dr. Samaya J. Anumudu is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Cone Health in Greensboro, NC where she was also Chief Resident and completed her nephrology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine with a clinical pathway concentration in Public Policy. Dr. Anumudu is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. She is a dedicated and caring clinician, educator, and clinical researcher. Her specific clinical interests are in home dialysis, chronic kidney disease, public policy and advocacy, and quality improvement and patient safety. Dr. Anumudu is a well-respected Nephrologist both locally and nationally. She has several publications in well-known national journals, has received several awards, and has been an invited speaker in local and national meetings as well. She holds several important leadership roles in national organizations such as serving on the Board of Directors of the Renal Physicians Association (RPA) where she is also the vice chair of the Education committee and was actively involved in the Government Affairs committee where she also served as Chair. Additionally, she serves on the Public Policy and Advocacy Committee for the American Society of Nephrology. She is inducted into The Gold Humanism Honor Society and has also received several awards and honors including the 2020 Women of Excellence Award, the 2021 Early Career Faculty Award for Excellence in Patient Care, and also the Distinguished Educator Award in 2021 as a faculty member.
