Biography

Marie Galvao is nurse practitioner at The Center for Advanced Cardiac Therapy at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. She started her career in heart failure research in 1987; this role soon expanded and led to her clinical expertise in the management of patients with acute and chronic heart failure. Ms. Galvano has dedicated her efforts to the clinical management, research, and education of patients with heart failure. She has promoted the broad optimization of heart failure care at both the local and national levels through advocacy, and by sharing her expertise with students and colleagues as a preceptor, through lectures and publications, and through her work with professional organizations. She has and continues to serve on advisory boards and committees and is a past president of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses.
