Biography
Nelson B. Watts, MD, is Professor of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Ohio, where he also serves as Director of the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Center. Dr. Watts received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. He completed a medical internship at the Medical College of Georgia, a residency in Internal Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center, and a fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Watts currently serves on the ABIM subspecialty board in Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Densitometry and serves on the editorial board of Osteoporosis International. He has served as President of the American College of Endocrinology, President of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry, and Chair of the FDA's Advisory Committee for Endocrine and Metabolic Drugs. Dr. Watts is active in numerous professional organizations. He has published more than 50 books and book chapters and more than 300 abstracts and articles in such journals as The New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA.
