Biography
Rajkumar Sugumaran, MD, is an interventional cardiologist with the team at Heart One Associates in Phoenix, Peoria, and Buckeye, Arizona. Dr. Sugumaran specializes in complex coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial and venous disease, advanced heart failure, and structural heart disease. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Sugumaran completed his Bachelor of Arts in economics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He returned to his hometown of Dayton, Ohio, and graduated from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He then completed his internal medicine residency at the Ohio State University in Columbus. Dr. Sugumaran furthered his training with a cardiology fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and an interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He also pursued additional peripheral vascular training in Leipzig, Germany. Dr. Sugumaran has been practicing in the Phoenix area since 2012. In addition to seeing patients at Heart One Associates, he served as the Chair of Cardiology at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center from 2019-2021. He is also the Director of the Banner Lipid Initiative ( Lowering LDL for Very High Risk and High Risk Patients). He is an assistant clinical professor at The University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix and The Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine
