Biography

Geralyn R. Spollett holds a master of science in nursing with distinction from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. She has served on the boards of several professional organizations, most notably as Chair of the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) and the Executive Board of the American Diabetes Association 2009-2012, President for Health Care and Education in 2012. She has held a variety of leadership positions at the regional ADA and as a chairperson at the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center. For 10 years she was an Associate Professor at Yale University School of Nursing in the Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner Program and the Diabetes Concentration specialty. She remains involved in the direct care of persons with diabetes specializing in the use of various insulin and sensor technologies. In 2006, she was honored to be the Outstanding Diabetes Educator by the American Diabetes Association. Ms. Spollett has lectured widely nationally and internationally on both type 1 and type 2 diabetes from a nurse practitioner perspective. She has served as Associate Editor for the journals Diabetes Spectrum and Practical Diabetology as well as the ADA book, The Complete Nurses Guide for Diabetes, now in its 3rd edition.
