Biography
Dr. Roe received his MD degree from Duke University School of Medicine and his MHS from the same institution. He completed an internal medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center and a cardiovascular fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Roe was promoted to Associate Professor of Medicine with Tenure in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Duke University Medical Center and the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI).
He has served as the principal investigator at the DCRI Coordinating Center for numerous clinical trials investigating antiplatelet therapies for acute myocardial infarction (MI) as well as myocardial protection agents designed to ameliorate reperfusion injury in patients with acute ST-elevation MI. Additionally, he has served as the co-principal investigator for the CRUSADE national quality improvement initiative performed at almost 500 hospitals in the US. Dr. Roe has served as the Director of the DCRI’s fellowship program since 2006. Dr. Roe won the Robert M. Califf Mentorship Award in 2008 (awarded annually by the DCRI research fellows to the best faculty mentor).
