Biography

Dr. Tommy Korn practices in San Diego and has been with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group since 2001. After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, Dr. Korn completed medical school at the UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He finished his residency at the University of California, San Diego Shiley Eye Center, and served as Chief Resident. Dr. Korn completed his fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute as a Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellow, an award given to the ophthalmology residents in the US. His areas of expertise include cataract lens implant surgery, cornea external eye disease, corneal transplantation, and laser eye surgery. Dr. Korn has a particular interest in educating primary care clinicians about eye disease using the latest evidence-based data combined with an enriching and engaging learning experience. Dr. Korn is also actively involved in cataract eye surgery training for residents at US teaching programs. He has volunteered on medical missions to the Ukraine, Mexico, and Thailand and in 2002 he received the prestigious Medal of Honor from Her Majesty, the Crown Royal Princess of Thailand for eye surgery contributions in rural Thailand. In his spare time, he enjoys family, photography, and meeting enthusiastic people engaged in health care!
