Biography

Dr. Hunninghake is a pulmonologist, a genetic epidemiologist, an associate director for the Center for Pulmonary Functional Imaging, and the director of the Sarcoidois Service at the Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). His clinic is devoted, in part, to caring for patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). He received his training in the genetic epidemiology of complex respiratory disease at the Channing Laboratory and obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) through the Harvard School of Public Health. He is currently an NIH funded investigator whose research is focused on identifying the epidemiologic, genetic, and epigenetic factors that will help to diagnose early stages of IPF. His ultimate goal is to target the groups most likely to progress to pulmonary fibrosis with the hope of preventing the more advanced stages of this incurable disease.
