Biography
Dr. Lisa Gwynn is Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and serves as the Section Chief of Community Pediatrics. In her role, she oversees three primary care pediatric practices, serves as medical director for the Pediatric Mobile Clinic, a program that provides medical and behavioral health services to uninsured, immigrant children, program director for the School Health Initiative, nine pediatric clinics in Miami-Dade County public schools, and a mobile immunization program “Shotz-2-Go!” which travels to schools and health fairs to provide vaccinations to children in need. Her recent research focused on COVID-19, where she received NIH funding to explore the feasibility of COVID-19 testing in schools and to better understand COVID-19 knowledge and testing barriers in underserved populations. Her areas of expertise include community engagement, school and immigrant health, advocacy, and innovative healthcare delivery models in underserved populations. She plays a large role in educating pediatric residents, medical, nursing, and public health students on the complexities of caring for immigrant and underserved populations, and the value of integrated health models of care. Dr. Gwynn is Board Certified in Pediatrics, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and Past President of the Florida Chapter of the AAP. She is also a member of the AAP Committee on State Government Affairs. Dr. Gwynn remains steadfast in serving her community, and is a passionate advocate for kids, especially those children who are most marginalized in our society.
