Biography
Red River Family Practice Current Role: Dr. Cynthia C. Brinson is the Medical Director of Central Texas Clinical Research in Austin, Texas, and also serves as the HIV and Chronic Care Physician for the Travis County Correctional Facility in Dell Valle, Texas. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and practices Family Medicine at Red River Family Practice in Austin. Experience: Dr. Brinson has over 20 years of clinical experience and has spent her entire professional career addressing the HIV epidemic through clinical research and evidence-based clinical care. She has been the Medical Director of Central Texas Clinical Research since 1999. Dr. Brinson also co-founded the KIND Clinic, a sexual health and wellness clinic dedicated to HIV prevention. Dr. Brinson has participated in over 150 HIV clinical trials and over 50 studies involving other health issues and has presented her research findings at international and national medical conferences. Dr. Brinson has also authored or coauthored articles that have been published in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of the American Association of Family Practice, the American Academy of HIV Medicine, the Texas Medical Association, and the Travis County Medical Society. Education: Dr. Brinson earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and obtained her medical degree at Texas Tech University, Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas. She completed her Family Practice residency at Brackenridge Hospital in 1993, serving as the Chief Resident her final year. Dr. Brinson also completed a fellowship in Academic and Research Development at the McLennan County Medical Education Research Foundation.
