Biography
Dr. Bedimo is Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Chief of Infectious Diseases at the VA North Texas Healthcare System. His clinical and research interest are the management of HIV diseases and its complications and, for the past three years, COVID-19. With the success of antiretroviral therapy and improved survival of HIV patients, chronic non-AIDS complications are becoming the greatest cause of morbidity and mortality, and these have been the focus of his research. With COVID-19, he’s similarly focusing on understanding determinants of post-acute sequalae, especially neurocognitive dysfunction. Dr. Bedimo is a member of the DHHS antiretroviral therapy guidelines panel, as well as the NIH COVID-19 treatment guidelines panel.
