Clinical Adjunct Professor, Department of Family Medicine University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, Texas Primary Care Physician New Braunfels, Texas Executive Director, The Institute for Public Health and Education Research Inc. (TIPHER] New Braunfels, Texas Carlos Campos, MD, MPH, CDCES, is a clinical adjunct professor for the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and has been practicing primary care medicine in New Braunfels, Texas, since 1984. He also serves as executive director of The Institute for Public Health and Education Research Inc. (TIPHER), a non-profit corporation that Dr. Campos established to improve quality of life by addressing public health needs and critical education issues. Dr. Campos earned his medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. In addition, Dr. Campos received a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health, and in May 2012, he received his certified diabetes care and education specialist status. Dr. Campos is also board certified in obesity medicine. Previously, Dr. Campos was appointed by the governor to the Texas Medical Board, where he served from 1993 to 1999. In 1993, he was also the chief of staff of McKenna Memorial Hospital in New Braunfels, and was the founding medical director for the Resolute Health Center for Wellbeing/Diabetic Center. Dr. Campos has multiple publications on diabetic-related topics and is on the editorial board for the journal Clinical Diabetes.
