Overview
This session will include an overview of the unique aspects of adolescent development that contribute to risk-taking behaviors. This will help frame the current data around adolescent morbidity, particularly for preventable health conditions. The role of certain risk taking for healthy adolescent development will also be emphasized. The common structural elements of various evidence-based risk reduction strategies will be summarized. Finally, the session will include examples of existing risk reduction curricula that have been implemented in community-based and school-based settings and the outcomes of these interventions will be presented.
